The Costa Brava

The coast of the Costa Brava starts 4kms North of Barcelona and extends right up to Roses on the French border.

Well known for its beaches and resorts it has a scenic and rugged coastline, a succession of coves, cliffs, and lookout posts situated in the mountains.

Some areas have been dedicated to tourism, but others such as Tossa del Mar, still retain their original size and fishing village charm.

Costa Brava

Endless miles of sandy beaches and sunshine made it a target for the tour operators when the package holiday industry took off in the 1960s.

Now you'll find international tourist resorts with high rise hotels alongside unspoilt fishing villages, sheltered coves and medieval towns with ancient castles.

There are many quaint villages, as well as the Greek and Roman ruins of Empúries.
